1. Tony Alamo... lol.
he used to have a pack of followers in Nashville, TN. I've still got some of the outlandish pamphlets they used to put out every where about Pope John Paul being a NAZI and a pic of Daddy Bush kissing a nun on the mouth.

16. They Used to Leave Tracts on My Car Windshield.
Once, one of them carried a refutation of charges a teenage girl was making against one of their members. It repeatedly called her a "lying whore." Glad to see they're finally getting it handed to them.

25. How disgusting. I hope the girl had a strong enough support system to carry her through a
potentially traumatizing trial. Poor girl. I grew up in a ultra conservative evangelical church and something like this happened with a girl my age.

2. Oh, Tony Alamo again
That ass was in Los Angeles during the 80s, even had a TV "mini$try" with his wife Susan, where she claimed she was immortal. That was laid to rest after she died from cancer and didn't do the resurrection she promised.

9. So-called "Chrstians". I am sick and tired of this crap.
This is Christanity. All the rest is bullshit, and I am going to fight back. This is truth. All else is crap:

"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

28. Did he say "cheese makers"?? Sounds like a silly religion.
Sorry, couldn't resist. I use that joke when ever I speak to churches about respect for others. My point being you can never know about another person's faith unless you ask someone who actually BELIEVES in that faith.
Otherwise you just have to take the word of some sephardic jew at the back of the crowd who speaks in a british accent.:B-):

10. this guy sent out a lot of mailings to elected officials
Even minor ones, I worked for an appeals court judge for over 6 years and he sent stuff to her office all the time. She (a dyed-in-the-wool, bona fide civil-rights-era feminist) would pass it around, enjoying a bit of morbid humor at the unintentionally hilarious Alamo. I grew to really hate this guy.

15. Not really a laughing matter.
No matter who got caught, what religion they subscribe to, or just how hypocritical they are, there are CHILDREN involved and that makes it more than just a laugh and giggle.

I'll be praying for the children that were abused and that this man and those who helped him get life in prison.

Peace.

21. the "family values" phrase has a pretty wide range of interpretations, doesn't it?
To one family it means caring for and protecting their children.

To another it means having sex with them.

All are 'family values'. Just with different definitions.

Heck, the Manson family believed in 'family values' too.

24. 6 children in Ark. custody after raid on compound
FOUKE, Ark. (AP) — Six minors have been temporarily placed in state custody as part of a child porn investigation after a raid on a ministry run by a man who says "consent is puberty" when it comes to sex, officials said Sunday.

The children will be in the custody of the Arkansas Department of Human Services as investigators interview them, state police spokesman Bill Sadler said in a statement.

Sadler didn't say how long the interviews would last, but did say that courts would decide the children's status in the event of any "long-term separation" from the property of the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries in rural Fouke.

He did not say how old the children were, but an e-mail that authorities inadvertently sent to media members last week referred to 12-, 13- and 14-year-old girls.

30. And when this happened at the YFZ Ranch in TX....
And when this happened at the YFZ Ranch in TX, some posters had the temerity (or the naive innocence?) to call the authorities "Fascists engaged in Genocide...".

The melodrama on both sides can get wearisome...
