4,000 ballot applications sent to wrong voters

ADAMS COUNTY – Four thousand mail-in ballot applications have been sent to the wrong people in Adams County.

"I'm very apologetic to the voters in Adams County," said Karen Long, the county clerk and recorder.

Long says the mistake was made by a printing company hired to electronically address and partially fill out applications for registered voters who are not already receiving mail-in ballots.

Long says her office became aware of the problem mid-morning Monday.

The applications have one voter's name printed on the front of the mailer and another voter's name, address and political affiliation on the actual application.

Great. My county. And I signed up for an absentee ballot, as did my wife and 2 daughters.

I don't know why we trust outside vendors to do this crap.

Why the hell did all these problems start in the last 20 years?

2. Good thing I registered in person.
I'm a little paranoid about all the vote-suppression efforts that are likely to hit right here (I'm also a resident of Adams County.)

So I made sure I was registered, and I went to the Adams County Elections office around 121st and Pecos and registered in person, and I doublechecked that registration just last week and switched it to a mail-in-voting registration.

So I should be OK, but it might not hurt to check again.
