Rocky Mountain NewsMore than 100,000 Coloradans registered to vote in the past five weeks, leaving the state almost equally divided between unaffiliated, Republican and Democratic voters.
New figures from the Colorado Secretary of State's office showed that more than 3.1 million residents are eligible to vote in the Nov. 4 presidential election, up 112,747 in the month of September and another 10,000 added in the first days of this month.
The number of voters is expected to rise as the state and counties process all the new registrations through Monday, the deadline for the November election.
"It's a big jump," said Ryan Call, political director for the Colorado Republican Party.
