Iraq and the Gulf of Tonkin (Washington Times)
I was shocked to see this in the Washington Times!

by Arnaud de Borchgrave, editor at large of The Washington Times and of United Press International.

The dust is not about to settle over the intelligence failure in Iraq. But it has already blurred our vision about weapons of mass destruction (WMDs).

snip

President Bush says, "I want the American people to know that I, too, want to know the facts" about what happened to WMDs in Iraq. Apparently, the president, too, was disinformed about WMDs being the reason he ordered U.S. troops into harm's way. Because this was no more the provocation given by the war's architects than the one put forward by the Gulf of Tonkin resolution that led to escalation of the Vietnam War — and 58,000 American servicemen killed in action.

North Vietnamese gunboats did not attack U.S. warships in the Gulf of Tonkin, anymore than Saddam threatened to attack us with his nonexistent WMDs.

snip

Iraq's nonexistent WMDs were never a threat to anyone. But they have already struck a devastating blow to the credibility of the Bush White House. The Doctrine of pre-emption becomes inoperable without unimpeachable intelligence accepted by all as the coin of the realm.

4. There have been interesting words from conservatives lately.

They appear to be turning on the neocons. This gang that can't think straight will not have the support of the conservatives this time around.

That means that Captain Codpiece is going down big time. Now if our candidates have some coattails we can take back congress too.

13. They're starting to hate him...
Huge deficits, huge spending, huge Medicare Drug Plan. Not their "small government" cup of tea at all. Many of Bush's supporters have taken to writing limp-wristed apologias in the conservative journals.

Their re-election slogan: Vote for Bush, he's not a Democrat!

Hardly stirs the soul...

It always pisses me off how every morning a snippet from The Washington Times is included. Who woulda thunk I would actually want them to read from it?!? Good lordy this is great!

b*sh was not deceived. He knew exactly what he was doing.

Nice to get acknowledgement of the GoT, though. Even if it's decades late.

1st reported that Cheney's office was being targeted in the Plame game (last week). At that time, I asked why is Moon turning on BushCo?
This could be big, though I still don't know why Moon wants BushCo out...

19. Whoah,...now THAT is inspiring,...
,...*giggle*,...I'm aghast!!! Although I confess that even I protested that the neocon cabal makes the whole of the Republican party look like a buncha' deceptive, greedy, war-mongers (the whole party is NOT all that awful). Perhaps this is an indication that the party is distancing itself from the despots.

20. Dont be lulled!
They are trying/going to put this behind the Bush Maladministration. It will be "old news" by the time of the "campaign". Once theyve rung it through the whitewash and spin cycle, the table will be cleared for whatever preemptive distractions they have scheduled down the road. NONE of the corporate media are even a little bit on your side. I cant believe anyone still looks at them with an "open" mind. Thats called being a victim.
