Nevada moving away from GOP grasp
Source: Associated Press

LAS VEGAS—Hundreds of volunteers are busily combing Nevada neighborhoods. Democrats have soared to a 100,000 voter registration advantage. Both presidential campaigns have spent millions of dollars.

But in the end, the number that matters most here may be 22.

That's Republican President Bush's approval rating in Nevada, a state he won twice, but a battleground that seems to be moving away from the man who would be his party's successor.

After months of being locked in a dead heat, polls show Republican John McCain slipping further behind Democrat Barack Obama in the Silver State. An Associated Press-GfK poll released Wednesday showed Obama with a 12-percentage point lead over McCain, the Democrat's widest lead yet. To make things worse for the Arizona senator, Democrats outpaced Republicans at the polls in early voting. . .

Another red state pretty much gone, John.

Hope you're working on your concession speech. Not to take it for granted, but nobody - nobody - has come back from these circumstances.

President-elect Obama. By Tuesday at 10 EST, it will be a reality.

Yes We Will.

2. I was just there, and can affirm that there is a lot of energy for
Obama in Nevada (not to mention lots of volunteers, from Nevada and California, working hard to convince more). Fingers crossed.

If the Dems prevail in Nevada this time, it will help to make up for what the Repugs did to Nevada in 2004 (remember when they threw all those Democratic voter registrations into the dumpster, thus disenfranchising thousands of Dem voters in Nov 2004???)

3. Now if NV, my home state BTW, can just get up the gumption to get
rid of Sen. Ensign and send him back to spaying dogs.

5. I live here in Las Vegas - some news
Early voting (now over) in Clark County (Vegas) and Washoe County (up north) has trended Democrat:

http://elections.gmu.edu/early_vote_2008.html

I just picked up $200 worth of groceries and took them over to our local volunteer office today. They were busing in college students from Stanford, California to do canvassing. I've spoken to several other people whom have been living here temporarily from other states.

There are Campaign for Change offices scattered throughout Las Vegas like I've never seen before. I still see some McCain/Palin bumper stickers, and Palin was popular when she came here, but Obama has been the bigger hit. In fact, Obama signs are at such a premium now that they won't let people have them unless they volunteer.

Las Vegas has a lot of unions from the casinos and they are all on board and working for Obama.

Las Vegas has a large Mormon population, whom are mostly for McCain, but I don't see them energized, as they may have been if Romney was the nominee.

I have no doubt that Las Vegas is going BLUE.

6. Or maybe even VP Romney
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 05:24 PM by BecauseBushSaysSo
I am sooooo glad he didn't pick him. We would probably lose MI too if Mittens were on the ticket. Even here in Ca a lot of them went for Mittens. And with Prop 8 it would be really really be close if he had picked Mittens.

And that was a very nice gesture, to feed the college students.

Thank you!
