Afghan gunmen kill local, kidnap French aid worker

Afghan officials say gunmen have kidnapped a French aid worker and shot dead another man who went to his aid.

Witnesses say the men struggled with the gunmen after being stopped in the street.

An Afghan interior ministry spokesman said the Frenchman was kidnapped by three armed men as he walked in the Baharistan district of Kabul.

Local reports say the man who was shot dead might have worked for the Afghan intelligence agency.
