Poll Shows Obama Deflected Recent Attacks: Rebuffs GOP effort to label him too liberal or a gamble
Source: Washington Post

With one day to go, Democrat Barack Obama appears to have rebuffed recent GOP efforts to label him as "too liberal" or too big a gamble.

The new Washington Post-ABC News tracking poll puts Obama well out in front over Republican John McCain and finds that Obama has firmly reestablished his advantage on handling the economy, beaten back a challenge on taxes and has an edge in terms of perceptions about which candidate would better deal with an unexpected major crisis....

***

Obama has also crossed some important thresholds. More than half of the survey participants said he is sufficiently experienced, and he is now widely viewed as a "safe" pick. Respondents divide about evenly on whether McCain is a safe choice for president.

Age appears to be a factor in views about whether McCain is a safe pick. Sixty-two percent of likely voters who said the candidates' ages are important called McCain a risky choice; among those who said age is not a issue, the figure was 34 percent. That is also a big change from June, when less than half of those factoring in age labeled McCain a risk....

***

Nearly six in 10 rate Obama as "about right" ideologically, with few shifts on that question over the course of the campaign; far fewer see McCain as in tune with them on most issues....

1. They come up with the same lines every election
No matter who is running he/she must be a tax-and-spend liberal.

I just heard a moronic female talking head on CNBC say there is no tax to cut in Obama's tax plan.
That it's just a handout, a tax credit.

Apparently she doesn't know that only about 40% of those targeted by Obama do not pay income taxes. The rest of them do.
But if a non-Republican wants to cut taxes that must be taxing and spending.

8. You're right. The GOP playbook is identical for every single
election and the same charges are leveled at the Democratic candidate every 4 years. I think people have finally caught on.

4. I don't think anybody was paying attention anymore.
You lose interest after the third or fourth attempt to throw you into a state of panic.

5. Terrorist, Socialist, Arab, Commie, Liberal, Tax-raising, Quiche-eating THAT ONE!
Just a small question for the GOP sheep -

If Bill Clinton was the most liberal member of Congress in history, and then Al Gore was the most liberal member of Congress in history, and then John Kerry was the most liberal member of Congress in history, how can it be that Barack Obama, with "no experience", could so easily crush their obviously well earned titles to become the most liberal member of Congress in history?

Okay, that was a long question - it might have too many big words for them.

6. No Joke: Signs put up overnight, black background, white letters - "Obama/Ayers 1995"
The desperate bleating of the frightened and pathetic GOP sheep

They planted them all over the public spaces (Harrisburg, PA area), but I noticed a lot of them went missing within a few hours. I was on the road a lot today. I also found it rather curious that not one of them was planted in front of a house or business.
