Mississippi Voting machine complaints reported

Numerous complaints allege that voters who have changed their name or address are being required to show a photo identification card.

"That is absolutely improper and we are hand-delivering and faxing a copy of the state attorney general's specific instructions on this to multiple precincts in multiple counties," said Ymeka Rushing, director of Protect the Vote 2008.

Rushing said complaints of machines "switching votes" have been received from a precinct in Jackson County, another in Madison County and multiple complaints from Simpson County.

About 14,000 people fall in the category of those who made a voter registration change, such as a new name or address, but find they're not listed as being registered to vote at their designated poll, "but that is simple to fix," Rushing said.
