Democrats Strengthen Power in General Assembly (Connecticut)

They were powerful before, now they're nearly invincible.

Connecticut Democrats say they're pretty sure they now have enough General Assembly seats to override any vetoes by Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell.

Before Tuesday's election, they held a veto-proof 107-44 majority in the House. All they needed was one more vote to have a two-thirds majority in the Senate, where they outnumber Republicans 23-13.

Now, leaders on both sides say it looks like the Democrats won enough seats to capture that veto-proof Senate majority.

2. They had a veto-proof majority before 2008 - on the plus side

until the special election lost them a senate seat - they did jack & shit with it. they let the "fighting 44" and rell dictate most of the agenda.

The abysmal question 1 on the Constitutional Convention lost big! Yeah!
