Bolivia's Evo Morales hails Obama's triumph as "historic"
Americas News

Nov 5, 2008, 13:17 GMT

La Paz - Bolivian President Evo Morales saluted Wednesday the 'historic' triumph of Barack Obama, who was elected to become the first African-American president in US history.

'Mr. Obama's triumph is really historic. We congratulate him on that triumph and we await the improvement in our (bilateral) relations in the future,' Morales said as he arrived at the presidential palace in La Paz for a ministerial meeting.

Morales himself achieved a historic electoral feat when he was elected to become the first president of indigenous descent in Bolivia's history in 2006.

He underlined Obama's origins, noting that African Americans - like Bolivian indigenous people - 'were discriminated against.'

Morales asked the US president-elect to lift the embargo on Cuba and withdraw troops from foreign countries.

2. "The time of the people has come!" --Evo Morales
He said this about a different situation--the election of leftists in South America. But it seems appropriate. The Obama win is really one for the people, as he himself acknowledged.

This is a good beginning for restoring peaceful relations with Bolivia, where the Bushwhacks have totally fucked things up (as they do everywhere), with the U.S. ambassador meeting with and funding fascist rioters and murderers. Morales threw him out of the country. UNASUR, the new South American "Common Market" stepped up to the task, and helped calm things down. Order has been restored and Bolivia will vote on their new constitution Dec 7. The Bushwhacks were supporting a white separatist, secessionist movement to split the country up (with the separatists gaining control of Bolivia's gas and oil reserves).

Morales is a wonderful man. I think he and Obama would get along famously, on a personal level. Let the talks begin!

--------

Morales sent a humorous message to the new leftist president of Paraguay, Fernando Lugo (a former bishop) when Lugo was elected earlier this year: "Welcome to the Axis of Evil!"

He could as well have sent the same message to Obama, given the Pukes' accusations of socialist, communist, terrorist, against Obama.

Let the humor begin! Let sanity begin! Let the peace begin! Give peace a chance!
