NYT/ReutersCHICAGO (Reuters) - Barack Obama will meet with his economic team on Friday and hold his first news conference since becoming U.S. president-elect, aides said, as the country awaited signs of how he might tackle the economic crisis.
Obama, who will inherit the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, faced pressure to announce his picks for key economic jobs, including Treasury secretary. On Wall Street, stocks fell sharply for a second day.
Timothy Geithner, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers and former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker were among those being considered for the Treasury post....

In addition to Summers, Geithner and Volcker, the short list for Treasury included Laura Tyson, who chaired Clinton's Council of Economic Advisers. Respected former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin said he did not want to return to government.
Obama could soon announce other economic posts as well. University of Chicago economist Austan Goolsbee and Jason Furman, a former economic adviser to Clinton, were expected to fill senior jobs....
