Palin's father says Alaska governor sorting clothes to find GOP's
Source: AP

WASILLA, Alaska (AP) - According to her dad, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin spent part of the weekend "frantically" trying to sort out which of her family's outfits belong to the Republican party.

Palin's father, Chuck Heath, says part of the problem is that "kids lose underwear, and everything has to be accounted for." Heath calls the controversy over his daughter's wardrobe "ridiculous," adding that the only thing she'd bought herself in the last four months was a pair of shoes.

Palin and John McCain's campaign faced a storm of criticism for spending more than $150,000 at high-end stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus to dress the vice presidential nominee. Republican National Committee lawyers are still trying to determine exactly what clothing was bought for Palin, what was returned and what has happened to the rest.

"Kids lose underwear"? He's going to have to come up with a better excuse. That one's not going to wash with the millions of Americans who buy underwear with their own hard-earned money for their kids...

40. They bought the kids underwear?
didn't they already have underwear? Even if it was ratty and worn out, no one would see it. And if something doesn't belong to you, don't you make sure you take care of it so you can return it in good condition.... and who the hell wants used kids' underwear!? The RNC seriously wants used underwear back?!

83. Can't they have a Yard Sale and make lots of money for the RNC
?

I can see it now.
The kids could have a lemonade stand and pass out the cups while
they take turns holding the darling newborn.

They can each stand behind the clothes that they wore and autograph each item.

:sarcasm: but it could happen with this crew.

The Beverly Hillbillies... that's who they remind me of- but one part is missing, the Hillbillies were decent people.

55. Yup, my first thought, too.......
"No, gotcha media, we did not buy anything we did not need.'

The other thing she said was that there were no clothes in Alaska, because there was no reason for the NY Times to say lawyers were being dispatched to pick up the clothes.

You know... Hillary Clinton's clothes were not purchased by the DNC. Why should the RNC buy Palin and her family a wardrobe? Didn't they have clothes of their own to wear?! It makes no sense to me.

Sounds a mite chilly to me. Note to Gov. Palin: This is why nudist colonies are traditionally located in places like Arizona and Florida.

C'mon, RNC! Let her keep the clothes! Do you want to be responsible for the entire Palin family nekkid and shivering in the streets of Wasilla and probably eaten by rogue mooses? Heartless bastards!:grr:

6. Sarah Palin's father...
...is just a liiiiitle too enmeshed in his daughter's business.

Their relationship gives me the creeps, especially after seeing them
sitting on a couch last week. He was rubbing her arm so hard, repeatedly,
I am wondering if she still has skin left.

I don't think he needs to continually make such detailed remarks like that,
as if his entire world hinges on what the world thinks of his daughter.

98. Goes a long way to confirm some thoughts of mine
I've mentioned a couple of friends of mine in HS who acted like Palin to the letter...both were molested by their fathers. One admitted this to me after her father tried to 'pull me aside' during a sleepover at her house.

I suspect abuse. Both from Daddy and Tawd. Exacerbated by a fundie nutbag religion that tells women that they deserve evrything they get.

101. I've thought this as well....
I come from a very dysfunctional family where sexual abuse happened.

When I first saw that footage of Sarah Palin's father rubbing her arm, and
treating her like some kind of life-sized doll--I immediately had a visceral
reaction and it brought back memories of how my father used to interact with
my sister, who was a victim of sexual abuse.

I didn't even know that the man was her father! I just recognized that
behavior and all of the nuances that go along with incest when I saw that
scene. Later I learned it was her father. Ugh.

Furthermore, Sarah Palin behaves like an unhealed, in-denial victim. She's
totally on auto-pilot---and she lies and manipulates with such ease. Skills that
some victims master at very early ages.

Also, have you noticed how enmeshed her father is with her life? He's constantly
speaking to the media--and offering justifications and rationalizations for her--like
she's a child.

Incest perpetrators never see their grown children as adults and they are overly
enmeshed in their kids lives--unable to respect boundaries.

Yes, I'm playing armchair shrink--but I see what I see. I'm not saying that I'm
totally correct--but sometimes survivors see the signs very clearly.

Since, according to Gov. Grifter, she bought all her stuff at consignment shops before the RNC gave her a Dr. Pepper (which she says was the only thing she asked for).

BTW, has anyone else noticed that in the videos of her "first day back on the job" in Alaska that it's obvious the $13,000/mo. makeup and hairdo people are long gone. Back to reality Mooselini

49. What a f**king liar.
Didn't she stand before TV cameras this very weekend and say she didn't know what the problem was, and that "no one was coming to Alaska to get any clothes?" She's a LIAR, pure and simple.

She bought the kids UNDERWEAR? What, did she think if they had all new clothes, they had to have new undies, too, so that the clothes could be returned when they were finished with them? And as for the "kids lose underwear," lady, that's a lame excuse--either that or you're family's truly hopeless.

I hope she's pissed off the RNC so much that they go after her and her family with guns a'blazin'. :grr:

54. EXACTLY!
Those "terrible" media people on Saturday ought to go back and ask why she was lying... and we ought to make sure all of these lies are in the forefront in 2012 if this idiot is stupid enough to try and run....

How FAR could the underwear (and everything else) have gone????

And most receipts are pretty detailed...if they cannot produce the ITEMS, then they need to hand over the cash to cover the "missing" items. Phrase it that way, and I imagine the items will suddenly "be found" by the Palins.

79. Two girls in my household: 12 and 21. Clothes horses to the max
My husband and I are "frugal". Thrift shops all the way on our clothing purchases.

Going through wardrobes for all 4 of us to sort out the "new" from the "old" - I'm going to guess 30 minutes top.

No it wouldn't be sorted, or folded, or organized. But separating out the new from the old for all of us: 30 minutes. Since I don't have staff that cleans my laundry every week, I know intimately which articles of clothing belong to me and mine.

Give SP a bit more time and she should have had the job done in an hour?! Especially as she likes to claim she's "one of us", a "working mom", so "frugal". I'm sure she was doing her own laundry (snark - I'm guessing she really has staff who does this stuff for her.)

(of course, this assumes she's telling the truth and merely sorting for "ownership" - cough - when in reality we know she's sorting to disguise, hide, deceive and confiscate. THOSE tasks take a whole lot longer than just sorting a drawer full of underwear.

91. This is hilarious...
The first woman ever nominated for the executive by the GOP is sorting through clothes to return to the Party. I would think those clothes would be the least they could give her for the humiliation she's suffered at their bidding. You can't even return used underwear to the store of purchase, but the GOP will take 'em - especially from the Palin women. Anyone else see this as twisted?

By election law, campaign funds cannot be used for personal enrichment. Clothing is specifically mentioned as a prohibited expense.
