Bush: 'I regret saying some things I shouldn't have said'
Source: CNN

NEW YORK (CNN) -- As his presidency nears its end, a reflective President Bush suggested Tuesday that he regrets some of his more blunt statements on the war on terrorism over the last eight years and said he wishes he had not spoken in front of a "Mission Accomplished" banner only a month after U.S. troops in Iraq were deployed.

...

"I regret saying some things I shouldn't have said," Bush told CNN's Heidi Collins when asked to reflect on his regrets over his two terms as president. "Like 'dead or alive' and 'bring 'em on.' My wife reminded me that, hey, as president of the United States, be careful what you say."

...

Shortly after the attacks of September 11, the president said of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden: "I want justice. There's an old poster out West that said, 'Wanted, dead or alive.' "

Bush was also criticized in 2003 for his answer addressing insurgents in Iraq.

"There are some who feel like that the conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is, bring 'em on," he said then.

On Tuesday, the president also referenced the moment aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln on May 1, 2003, during which he declared an end to major combat operations in Iraq.

"They had a sign that said 'Mission Accomplished.' It was a sign aimed at the sailors on the ship, but it conveyed a broader knowledge. To some it said, well, Bush thinks the war in Iraq is over, when I didn't think that. But nonetheless, it conveyed the wrong message."

26. Your words say it best out of all these comments.
I feel like I've been in a black hole and the memory of that and the pain of that will always be with me. Not the same intensity because he will be gone and pain does fade. It's just that there are so many assholes just like him waiting in the wings.

and the door isn't even close to hitting him in the ass yet.

I'm still looking forward to seeing if the Internet rumors about Laura kicking his but to the curb are true or not. It already looks like she is in more demand for a book deal than he is. Odd thing, the publishers just don't seem to think that a book on how to be the worlds biggest dumb-ass is going to go to the top of the charts with the American public. Outside of that 30 million or so whack-jobs that still think he is a good president.

3. He wants justice? Justice? The fucking nerve of it all.
Is torture justice?
Are indefinite and illegal detentions justice?
Are human rights abuses justice?

Fuck him and all who allow him to get away with his crimes.

5. One thing he never should have said . . .
I, George Walker Bush, do solemnly swear . . .

If he had never said that, there would be a lot of people alive today.

12. He doesn't get it
he regrets saying things that made him "look bad", but not the actions that were wrong.

So, he now says that maybe he should not have said he would get Bin Laden 'Dead or alive.', but does not see why his incompetance and screwed up prioritities prevented that from happening.

He regrets the "Mission Accomplished" banner, but lacks the ability to figure out why the mission is still not, and cannot be accomplished by force, or question if maybe it was a stupid mission in the first place.

13. Bush
Bush has been doing a lot of crying lately. He cried last week when the new president was announced. Laura had to go up to hug him.
Just today, Bush was crying again. Growing misty-eyed that his "time was up". Same thing with Gordon Smith, he has been crying all week about his loss.

I thought to myself, why the hell is Bush crying so much? I can only come up with 2 scenarios:

1) He's scared about going to jail.

2) He's scared about his "legacy" which is about worth a petrified, dried white dog-crap on the sidewalk. = the absolute worst legacy any president could get.
Bush is on the same par as Caligula, or that black dictator who ate people; Ugandan president I think his name was Idi Amin.

22. Regrets, I have a few, but too few to mention --
It sounds like lyrics to a Frank Sinatra song. You know he got into the Whitehouse with a 'Win a any cost' philosophy. Then he tried that same technique in Iraq. Regrets, I have over 4,000 of them, and they keep increasing every day.

27. One more thing he regrets saying: "I'll take the blue pill"
Because as Morpheus explained, with the red pill "all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more."

Something that eluded The Decider for eight years.

30. Sure, the "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" banner was for the sailors on the ship...
...that's why it was on the OUTSIDE of the ship rather than the inside, and being displayed prominently along with * as he gave his speech. And it's also why he said "major combat operations in Iraq have ended."

What he meant was, we're going to have several more years of "minor" combat operations. Like, till whenever.

Um, yeah.
