An Iraqi soldier has shot dead at least two US soldiers and wounded six others in the Iraqi city of Mosul, reports say.

The incident happened in the impoverished Zanjili district of the city when the group were carrying out a joint afternoon patrol.

The Iraqi trooper turned his gun on patrol members, the US military said, before being shot dead himself.

The US military said it was investigating the incident.

7. The confusion on numbers
was a result of information from US authorities disagreeing with that from Iraqi authorities. Fortunately the number does not now seem to be higher than two.

5. I wonder if he entered the Iarqi army intending to do something like this, or
did something happen to a friend or relative that changed him? Or did he see things during joint patrols that affected him?

And will we ever know?

6. Why are American soldiers still in Iraq? They sure as fuck don't want us there
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 12:39 PM by LaPera
"protecting" their oil....Iraq, was an illegal invasion from the start, a war for corporate profits, to instill terror & fear in Americans, a lie from day one, to make Bush a "wartime president" so to do as he pleases domestically, spying our US citizens and bankrupting & destroying our government social programs that republicans have always despised.

There will NEVER be peace as long as US troops are there.

US Iraq "policy" is and has been a failure, and will continue to be while sucking up hundreds of billions of our much needed tax dollars.... and our soldiers are being killed, for what....Oil, corporate profits & bases in the region.

Our weapons manufacturers & corporations that our taxes paid for, that Iraqi's are killing our soldiers with....

There's no democracy in Iraq and there never has been and never will be, we can't force it down the Iraqi's throats through force....Republicans simply want another puppet regime, to control Iraqi oil and have bases in the oil rich region.
