U.S. helicopter down in Mosul, two dead
Sat Nov 15, 2008 2:45pm EST

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Two U.S. soldiers were killed
in a helicopter accident in the northern Iraqi city
of Mosul on Saturday, a military spokeswoman said.

The helicopter involved was an OH-58 Kiowa Warrior,
a small scout helicopter fitted with weapons. It hit
overhead cables as it was attempting to land.

"There has been a helicopter incident in Mosul.
They're classifying it now as a hard landing when
it came in contact with wires," Captain Charles
Calio said earlier on Saturday.

1. Rocket-shaped wires?
Accidents do happen, of course, but I tend to assume that accidents reported in Iraq are not accidents.

3. Yep, accidents do happen. And according to the administration, every
helicopter crash has been the result of an accident.

4. Well sure--otherwise it would be a "crash," not a "hard landing"

6. What I was saying is that no helis are ever SHOT DOWN, they always
come falling from the sky due to mechanical failure.

Did that help?
