UK troops to withdraw from Iraq in New Year

Exclusive: British combat troops will start withdrawing from Iraq shortly after key local elections held at the end of January, the UK commander in Basra has signalled.

1. Beautiful news! What a shame they were drawn into this tragedy in the first place.
Hope they'll all be home as soon as humanly possible.

Don't buy that story. President Tony was a true believer who was in it all the way. And Gordon just stood by and signed the cheques .

3. Sounds about right.
But it remains cause and effect. Judi said we were drawn in - sucked in might be more apt. Keep your eyes open for pics of Blair these days - oh boy does he look old before his time now.
