Top official meets rioters as China seeks stability
Source: Reuters

BEIJING (Reuters) - The governor of a Chinese province sat down with protesters after they fought pitched battles with police, a rare concession by a leader and a sign of government concerns about stability as the economy slows.

Xu Shousheng held a meeting with 10 representatives in Wudu in the poverty-stricken northwestern province of Gansu two days after the riot in which dozens were injured, state media said.

Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Yin Weimin said on Thursday stabilizing employment was the top priority for China as he revealed a rise in jobless workers triggered by a weakened export sector.

The protests were sparked by local residents' worries about a government resettlement plan after the May 12 earthquake killed more than 80,000 people, and in Gansu alone made 1.8 million people homeless.

1. CHINA RISING
Rachel Maddow needs to Talk Me Down on China. Finally we are setting up an inspection and regulation department in China. Funny - we deregulate Wall Street and after the horse is out of the barn we wake up too late and begin regulating China. Essentially our safety was up to China's standards. THE COAL INDUSTRY is decapitating and destroying Appalachia turning it into a third world America so we can ship train car loads of coal out of here, to China to power their CO2 belching behemoths running their factories, military, industry, toy production plants, dog food making plants, toothpaste making plants, milk production plants, produce plants fertilized with Night Soil ( human waste ) so we can go to walmart and buy cheap crap from China. Yet here in Appalachia, literally Third World America, with it's redneck mentality on coal is turning toxic. Sean Hannity says " Obama will bankrupt THE COAL INDUSTRY". False Hannity ! Do your homework before spewing lie after lie. THE COAL INDUSTRY comes to Appalachia blows our 350 million year old mountains to smithereens, gouge and blast, pollute, then when their pockets are full THE COAL INDUSTRY files for bankruptcy leaving Wise County, Virginia a moonscape with heavy metals running into our watersheds and no one to hold responsible. The schools here are so old and outdated they can't even power up the latest technology kids in Appalachia and Pound deserve to compete on a global scale with China ! What is wrong when America has to catch up with Denmark, India, Germany, Spain on alternative energy ? 25% of my home in Southwestern Virginia is gone, there are permits out for another 34% of Wise County. We can't stand anymore of Presidebt Bush's prosperity from coal. http://www.wisecountyissues.com

2. The revolution will not be televised
You will not see Hu Jintao pushing a shopping cart full of pirated software through Tienanmen Square on a dead run

wearing a mao suit he's been saving for just such an occasion

the revolution will not be sponsored by the Red Guards

or Lackey Running Dogs

the revolution will not go better with the melamine

the revolution will not cure the Atmospheric Brown Cloud

the revolution will not be reruns baby

the revolution will be live
