1. Which era would you prefer Obama appoints from?
just curious.

Carter? Johnson? Kennedy? Truman? or Roosevelt?

There may be a few Carter era appointees rattling around, but if you want Johnson or earlier, you're out of luck; they've croaked from old age.

2. You mistake me for a Clinton hater.
That's not me. I predicted a year ago that the next President would have mostly Clinton era people.

I was right and that's fine with me. They are the smartest people available.

Although how that's done with internal organs, I'm not sure.

6. Steinberg proposed Iraq withdrawal in 04

James B. Steinberg, Nonresident Senior Fellow, Foreign Policy
Michael E. O'Hanlon, Senior Fellow, Foreign Policy

The Washington Post

American policy in Iraq faces a crisis. Mainstream U.S. political leaders, including President Bush and Sen. John F. Kerry, have continued to insist that we must "stay the course" and that "failure is not an option." But these slogans are not enough to rescue a failing policy. The success of our mission has depended from the outset on the perception by the Iraqi people that our presence is necessary to secure their own future. Today that premise is increasingly in doubt.

8. France warns Obama on Iran( get ready, maybe a June invasion in 09 ? )
Edited on Mon Nov-24-08 08:25 PM by ohio2007
PARIS–French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner warned U.S. President-elect Barack Obama yesterday of potential dangers involved in his plans to deal more directly with Iran and send more troops to Afghanistan.

Obama has made clear he plans a new approach to dealing with Iran and its nuclear program, including direct talks if needed, a break from the outgoing administration of U.S. President George W. Bush, which pursued a strategy of isolation.

Kouchner, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, said he welcomed Obama's plans but urged him to be careful in dealing with the Iranians, who have been negotiating with major powers for years.

"We have negotiated at great length. People came to France, we sent people to Iran, we met them, and unfortunately
this dialogue produced nothing.

Just remember the position Hillary took on Iran. Be careful for what you wish for in a dream team

21. I CAN REMEMBER the position Hillary took on Iran, but
Apparently, Obama does not, or perhaps he chooses to ignore it.
How very unfortunate!

10. Actually, Steinberg was/is a loyal Obama supporter from early on. He's not from Hillaryland.
Edited on Mon Nov-24-08 09:53 PM by ClarkUSA
And there's no question that he'll be loyal to the President-Elect over the Clintons, which is important, because he was on Obama's
"naive and inexperienced" foreign policy team from the beginning. Team O is not going to allow Hillary to go rogue, not with
Steinberg looking over her shoulder. :)

22. Indeed. clinton will have to take Obama's orders, not the other way around.
Considering how much she attacked his lack of FP experience while lacking it herself, and the arrogance of some clinton supporters in thinking she was "owed" the top spot, this is turning out kind of sweet. A humbled clinton might rethink her past mistakes (like lying repeatedly about nonexistent sniper fire).

The phrase, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" will never go out of style in this country....... very unfortunately.
