U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, collapsed in the Capitol this afternoon and is being rushed to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland.

13. Do you think the reason why the auto industry got comfy and didn't
bother to put new innovation into their car designs may have had something to do with Dingell always coming through with money for them with no strings attached?

19. I don't know that he has come through with money.
Big 3 have had 30 years to learn to compete with the Japanese. It seems they have never looked to the future past the end of the next quarter. I don't believe there are enough leaders in the Big 3 that actually care about the future of American companies. They've built big cars in the last 30 years simply because they make more money on them.

6. Hope it all turns out okay for him
Except for his huge blind spot for the auto industry, Dingell is not a bad Dem.

10. The holiday period is very stressful. I wish we could go from Halloween to
the first day of Spring Training.

My husband had a heart attack on Thanksgiving (1995), my mom and dad were both in intensive care over Christmas (1983) - ugh - too many scary, sad memories for me.

BTW, watch out for those high fat meals during these times - many heart attacks occur after having had one.

Dingell is hospitalized

The Detroit News / The Detroit News

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, was admitted to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland today.

"This afternoon, Congressman Dingell felt some discomfort and as a precautionary measure he was admitted to the hospital," press secretary Adam Benson said in an e-mail to reporters.

"The congressman is fully conscious and was joking with his staff from his cell phone while en route to the hospital. The congressman expects to be back to work for the people of Michigan in about a day or so."
