LET SANTA LIGHT THE MENORAH (WHITE HOUSE IN HANUKKAH TREE GAFFE)
Source: NY Post

Merry Hanukkah from the White House!

The president and the first lady invited leaders of America's Jewish community for a Hanukkah reception at the White House next month - but raised more than a few eyebrows by putting a picture of a Christmas tree on the invitation.

The message reads that the couple "requests the pleasure of your company at a Hanukkah reception," written beneath an image of a Clydesdale horse hauling a Christmas fir along the snow-dappled drive to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

And, no, it is not a Hanukkah bush. A close look at the wagon reveals the message "White House Christmas Tree 2008."

8. '...Laura Bush's spokeswoman, Sally McDonough, said
the White House usually prints separate cards, but in the waning days of the presidency, there had been an oversight.

"Mrs. Bush is apologetic," she said. "It is something that just slipped through the cracks."....'

The amount of insensitivity/arrogance that has 'slipped through the cracks' the last 8 years is mind boggling. Is the chief of protocol a dog show organizer?

10. and?
I hate Bush for a lot of shit, but not being openly Christian isn't one of the reasons. Who gives a fuck? How about a story about him committing treason? Wouldn't that be a bigger deal? Shouldn't that be a bigger problem?

Oh, no fucking way?!?! Why haven't the media been covering this until now!!! Fuck, all of this time I was concerned about his war crimes, violations of international law, national law, destroying the constitution, fucking human rights in the ass, and driving the US into another great depression. Now you tell me he's stupid too! Whooo..... man.... I don't know if I can deal with that.

Did the paper also have a story on that day about how Putin is tall?

And should be called "Yule trees" in honor of the pagan festival.

It is the perfect word to use in this particular situation for that meshugana.

Usually I was the lone shiksa among my Jewish friends. I also married one. It din't take, but I learned by voice a lot of neat words.

Chanukah is a most appropriate time to call * meshuga.

Shalom.

38. I figure anytime is a goo time to call bush anything but smart or human...
Schlep, Schmo, putz, yutz, and drek are all good little descriptions of the Worst President Ever. It helps to get the right inflection though, and that is hard to do writing...I loved the accents in NY...we had quite a few Holocaust survivors in our neighborhood, and it was great to hear the different accents and all of the gestures from sub-group to sub-group...:D

35. Who hasn't heard the story of the Hanukkah Tree?
Edited on Thu Nov-27-08 03:30 AM by Botany
Years ago the Tribe of David was in flight of The Philistines
in the mid east when they saw a grove of fir trees in the snow
and they climbed the trees and thier enemy passed by them
with out seeing 'em. To show their thanks to the Lord they cut
down the fir trees and made dredles out of them and had Santa
give the dredles to good little Jewish boys and girls.

How many days left w/ the bush clan? :grr:

48. They're all faith-based proofers.
They start by saying a prayer that God will show them anything that needs to be fixed, and if nothing jumps out at them immediately, it must be OK.
