British Muslim bodies flay Mumbai attacks
Source: times of india

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) has condemned the terrorist attacks in Mumbai unequivocally and said "there is no excuse for such
acts, whatever the cause may be".

Muhammad Abdul Bari, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, said: "I condemn this heinous act and extend my sympathies and condolences to the bereaved. Many Britons have deep links with the city of Mumbai and India and I join them in this hour of sadness and anxiety."

The Federation of Indian Muslim Organizations Midlands, UK, also condemned the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

The Federation said: "Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those killed and injured. No cause or grievance can justify indiscriminate attacks against innocent people."

It asked the Indian government to leave no stone unturned in its investigations as the "perpetrators must be brought to justice swiftly".

13. Where have you been? How many of our illlustrious Christian Leaders have
not only trashed Islam as Islamofascist and a bunch of terrorists but have called Muhammad a pedophile? How soon we forget! Don't you think some of our own Fundamentalists have done their share to create the hatred that produces suicide bombers? I do.

8. Here's some.
Egypt and the Arab League on Thursday denounced the "terrorist" attacks which left at least 100 people dead in India's financial hub Mumbai.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak condemned the attacks and said his country "stands by the side of New Delhi in countering terrorism," state news agency MENA reported.

The Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's main opposition group, also condemned the "terrorist attacks" and called for the execution of the perpetrators.

"These despicable acts of terror are an attack on humanity in general, not against people from certain nationalities or civilization," said a statement on the Brotherhood's website.

"We hope that perpetrators of these heinous (acts) be brought to justice to receive the ultimate punishment for their crimes," said the Brotherhood, which control about a fifth of seats in parliament.

Jeddah/Abu Dhabi - The Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) on Thursday condemned the terror attacks in Mumbai, saying violence had no justification.

'These acts of violence contradict all human values and can be justified by nothing,' an OIC spokesman said at the group's headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

In Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates government condemned the 'reprehensible crime' and promised India its support in the fight against terrorism. About 80 per cent of foreigners living in the UAE are Indian nationals.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has telephoned the head of the governing Indian National Congress, Sonia Gandhi, to condemn the attacks. He said the killing of innocent people was a "detestable act", adding: "Militancy and extremism in all its forms and manifestations have to be eliminated and all countries need to co-operate with each other in this regard."

15. I don't hear too much condemnation of wedding party bombings
or of the villages destroyed in NWFP/FATA areas of Pakistan.. Guess it's a case of "hypocrites selectively wail again".

11. Additional point...
British Muslims may feel more upset and concerned than Middle Eastern Muslims, because most British Muslims - unlike those in the Middle East - are of Indian or Pakistani descent. These are their own ancestral countries that are being messed up by extremists. Many will have family there, and be very worried about them.
