Gorbachev hopes for new US policies under Obama

Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev says the election of Barack Obama shows the world that the U.S. wants change.

Gorbachev says "the entire world felt that America wanted change and was expecting change."

The 77-year-old Gorbachev spoke Thursday to The Associated Press.

He notes that some in Russia have called Obama the American Gorbachev because of his promises to bring change, or perestroika, to his country.
