Mayor (Denver): Don't ban gay marriage
*snip*
"I don't think that it's government's role to dictate to religious institutions what they should or should not allow," Hickenlooper said.

"But in the context of government, same-sex couples in committed relationships should be entitled to equal rights such as the ability to visit a loved one in the emergency room," he said.

*snip*
But the principle of equal rights outweighs the political risks, said mayoral spokeswoman Lindy Eichenbaum Lent.

"In America's history, supporting equal rights has always carried political risk, but it's the right thing to do," Lent said.

2. I voted for one of the other guys
But I've been very pleasantly surprised by Hickenlooper as mayor.

5. Don Mares
That's who I voted for, anyway.

Gee, whatever happened to him? I've long thought he had a big future in Colorado politics. It's too soon to say I was wrong, but perhaps I was wrong.

3. I like him!
I also voted for the other guy (Whazzisname?). Hickenlooper just rocks! He also recently admitted he is a Democrat. Remember he never declared a party during the election last year. He spoke at the AIDSWalk last August, which was really classy as well.
