Verging on one-fourth of the Zimbabwean population -- nearly 3.4 million people -- are living abroad, many of them having fled violent state repression and the nation's deepening economic crisis.

The figures were compiled by a central bank advisory board formed to explore ways of getting "Zimbabweans in the Diaspora" to send hard currency home, board member Erich Bloch said Friday.

Many Zimbabweans support the families they left behind but usually send money through black-market currency dealers who pay out in local currency and keep the hard cash offshore.

It's funny that he wants gays killed too, especially since all of the Whites who supported his guerilla war against Smith were probably liberals, and White liberals are more likely to be openly gay than any other demographic group.

Mugabe was never a good guy, the UN should have occupied Rhodesia when this whole mess started back in the 60's or at the very least during the civil war to oversee some sort of transition rather than just letting a bad white guy be replaced with a bad black guy.

The hardcore racists fled to South Africa or overseas, many to Australia or Flordia. the white people who stayed behind are mostly perfectly nice people. There is no justifacation for what that thug has done to them. There is a disaster there because families who had been farming for generations were thrown out, and his cronies who couldn't grow a chia pet were given the nations farms.

White gays are getting the worst of it, even though they are likely predominantly liberal and therefore were supporters of Mugabe's guerilla warfare against Smith's White supremacist regime.
