Fundraiser 'Unfortunate,' California Governor's Aides Concede
A week before Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger travels to New York for what is expected to be a lucrative fundraising dinner, his office is conceding that it was "probably unfortunate" for aides to have sought donations of up to half a million dollars.

But Schwarzenegger is not about to pull back in his pursuit of campaign money — even as he prepares to roll out legislation aimed at dampening the influence of campaign donors.

Since the beginning of the year, Schwarzenegger has netted $5.2 million — a pace outstripping that of former Gov. Gray Davis.

If you read this whole article, you will find it hard to believe that it's not a parody. The hypocrisy coming from Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the attempt to change the laws of the state for his own personal benefit, are almost unbelievable.

4. He needs money to campaign for his bond deal (pushing
current debts to future generations of Cal taxpayers)... so he is going to New York for a huge fundraising effort targetted to... financial institutions - the folks who could benefit (getting fees, interest, etc.) from the financing of the bond deal.

Remember how he campaigned against "special interest groups"? This lays bare the end to that claim.

8. unfortunate means
Oh, shit, somebody noticed that we are sleazeballs and published it. Since our ploy was too brazen, we can't use the liberal media tarbrush, so we will pretend it was "unfortunate." Never take responsibility.

7. "probably unfortunate" = illegal?
Wait a minute....Aides of the guv were soliciting campaign contributions? Were they on the taxpayer dime and using taxpayer funded facilities whild they were doing this? If so, that's not just "unfortunate" that is also illegal. And if they did it at the request of the guv - isn't that an impeachable offense? How is it different from what Rowland did in Conn.?
