Democrats flex political muscle as House passes kids health bill
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The newly empowered Democratic majority once again flexed its political muscle Wednesday as the House of Representatives voted to expand a key federal healthcare program to an estimated 4 million additional children.

The final 290-135 vote to expand the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) fell largely along party lines, with almost every Democrat voting in favor of the expansion and most Republicans voting against it.

President Barack Obama is expected to sign the bill late Wednesday afternoon; the Senate passed it last Friday.

2. This should not be! We must listen to the ideas of the Republofucks.
Obama should veto this and send it back for more in-depth negotiations.

5. That'll get GOP pols a lot of votes:
'I voted against healthcare for poor kids.'

C'mon Dems! Good start, but this one didn't really take much spine. Now, show some real nerve on some toughies.

7. Where's the PR machine?
The Repugs cannot win on the public approval scale on this voting behavior, so make the most of it. Shameless promotion. Dems have to play hardball and show the positives of a progressive agenda. Trot out a few underprivileged families under the camera spotlights and tell the public how Jane and Joe can now breath easier about their kids.

The problem for the Dems is that they like to think they are above all that and that when they are 'doing the right thing' it is obvious and there is no need to showcase it. That's wrong. Even though it is just one small progressive step, it is all cumulative, towards later the public accepting a public health care system and ignoring the pig boys of the medias screeches.

This goes the same for every piece of progressive legislation that will come through. TALK TO THE PEOPLE about what, why, and how you are doing it for their benefit. If Dems do this clearly each time, the Repugs and their media dogs will at least start out with a handicap.
