Hillsborough GOP Committeewoman Quits Over E-Mail
Source: WFLA

TAMPA - Hillsborough Republican state committeewoman Carol R. Carter says she is resigning her post amid controversy over a racially tinged e-mail that she sent to eight friends.

"I have tendered my resignation," Carter said this morning, hours after a published report detailed an e-mail sent by Carter Jan. 30.

The e-mail questions how 2 million "blacks" could make it to the inauguration of Barack Obama but 200,000 couldn't make it out of New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina.

Carter said she sent the e-mail to "eight people I thought were my friends," and never intended for it to become public. "It was an Internet joke," Carter said.

1. Good! Stupid, racist twit!

And I loved the non-apology "apology" she sent out earlier, in which she "regretted" the negative way the joke was received.

:puke:

3. Good riddance...
It's about time these Republicans realize there is no place in American politics for such racially-tinged "jokes."

7. Actual quote from the e-mail:
However, Torgersen said Carter made an error in forwarding the e-mail, which questioned how "2,000,000 blacks get into Washington, D.C. in 1 day in sub zero temps when 200,000 couldn't get out of New Orleans in 85 degree temps with four days notice."

Ah, when the stupidity is local, it's so much sweeter.

It's all good, clean fun until someone makes it public.

12. They could have left the word Republican out ...
... and we'd of known what her politics was likely to be.

Of course, we all know that there are racists in the Democratic party too.

But, given the odds, like smoke over fire, there's an R involved when something like this too.

13. Actually, notice the last paragraph. She hasn't learned lesson one.
She blames a man in Clearwater who received a copy of the e-mail for "holding the party hostage" by leaking it to reporters.

Do you all see? It's not her fault. The problem was someone found out. And the real villain is the person who was so appalled by the email they thought it was proper that the email was leaked out, because someone like that isn't going to serve all her constituents with a clear and equal view.

Call the waahmbulance STAT, we have a critical case.

Also, she complains:

Carter said the flap follows decades of dedication to the GOP. "I have spent 46 years working for this party," Carter said.

S'okay, lady. The people who elected you actually still love you, as does your party. They just know better than to support you in public, because it's, at long last, in bad form to insult poor black people – even in Florida.

17. I'm sure she's genuinely sorry.
That she got busted for being a racist.

Kinda makes you wonder, though, how people like Rush Limbaugh can be equally openly racist and not get canned.

22. "I have spent 46 years working for this party,"
The problem, lady, is that once elected you are supposed to work for ALL your constituents.

Even 'those people'.

20. It's a good sign the G.O.P. has sent this message to Carol Carter, but why are they silent, or even
supportive of a blob of flesh like Rush Limbaugh who has everything in common with Carter, holding his hate-fests on public air waves daily? They should have been all over him many years ago, before he had belched so much pure reeking venom into the world he refuses to share with others.

21. So if a racist tells a racist joke in the company of other racists in the forest
and no non-racists hear it, did it really happen?

She acts as if it would have been OK if only her fellow racists heard it?

Good riddance.
