Todd Palin held in contempt of Alaska state Senate
Mike Sheehan
Published: Friday February 6, 2009

The husband of 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin has been found guilty of contempt by the Alaskan Senate.

Last summer, Todd Palin and others had refused to comply with subpoenas issued by Alaska lawmakers seeking testimony in the "Troopergate" investigation launched in July, triggered by the allegedly forced resignation of a state official.

The official, Walt Monegan, had been reluctant to fire an Alaska state trooper who was Gov. Palin's brother-in-law, embroiled in a bitter custody battle with Palin's sister.

At the time the investigation began, Gov. Palin "welcomed the chance to clear the air and had directed her staff to cooperate with the investigations," writes blogger Shannyn Moore. But "everything changed" when just weeks later, GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain chose Palin as his running mate.

1. Who does he think he is...Turd Rove?
C'mon, MILFy McMooseburger, spring your man from the pokey and alienate your constituents with your above-the-law posturing. I wouldn't expect anything less from you.

3. No surprise.
Too bad he can't be locked up for it unless the evidence is compelling enough. Ah, the gift that keeps on giving! :sarcasm:

9. The article doesn't say what kind of slap on the wrist he'll get.
Will they fine him? Will there be jail time? What do they do when they find you guilty of contempt of the Senate?

22. The article does say that NO penalties at all will be imposed upon Tawd or the other witnesses who
were in contempt because--get this--the witnesses were acting on advice of the AG. Whatever happened to Nuremberg and Lt. Calley? This was even about military orders, simply advice of the AG. Democrats are as weak as water. I am ready to give up.

16. I can see her consultants telling Palin that a confrontation with the state troopers...
...is just what she needs.

"It'll be your own little Ruby Ridge/ Waco, except with a lot more cameras, and nobody gets hurt.

After a brief stand off, you and Todd will emerge into the hands of the government authorities carrying bibles and wrapped in the American flag. You'll have the vote of every nutbag in the country, and there's lots of nutbags out there. It can't miss!!"

From Sean Cockerham in Juneau –

New state gift disclosures show Liberty Legal Institute and the two law firms working with it paid $185,000 to represent six Alaska legislators in their unsuccessful attempt to halt their colleagues’ “Troopergate” investigation.

The legislators listed a $25,000 gift of services from the Texas-based Liberty Legal Institute. Liberty is the legal arm of the Free Market Foundation, which is associated with evangelical leader James Dobson’s Focus on the Family, and lists its guiding principles as limited government and promotion of Judeo-Christian values. The lawmakers also disclosed a $120,000 gift of services from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, a national firm that appeared at hearings on behalf of Liberty Legal.

24. Curious that M$M has neglected to pick this up. I've only read about it
online.

Guess I shouldn't be surprised at the lack of interest our media would have with this story. :eyes: :eyes:
