A-Rod reportedly tested positive for steroids
Source: AP/Yahoo

NEW YORK – Sports Illustrated has reported that Alex Rodriguez tested positive for steroids in 2003.

The magazine says in a story posted on its Web site Saturday that the New York Yankees star tested positive for two anabolic steroids. SI cited four unidentified sources.

SI reports that Rodriguez's name appears on a list of 104 players who tested positive for performance-enhancers in a 2003 baseball survey.

Rodriguez declined to discuss the tests when approached by SI on Thursday at a Miami gym. He told a reporter to speak to the players' union. Calls from SI to union head Donald Fehr were not returned.

1. Egads. The shock.
No really, the shock is in that anyone cares. Chasing down steroid users in pro sports is a waste of time and energy.

5. A-Fraud--A-Liar--A-(Career is over)
I want to see my Yankees cut him today
He will never get into the Hall Of Fame..He will never be recognized as a legitimate player anymore.
Hank Aaron will always be the Home Run King.

12. cut him loose and move on!
To think that the Yankees have paid..how much damn money for one single player, who apparently felt the need to cheat and take steroids, then fore a trade to one of the most historic sports teams on the planet, repeatly fail to live up to the expectations and never perform in the post season..then act like a total diva towards EVERYBODY in the team, cheat on his wife with Madonna (???!!!), has major issues catching a damn ground ball at times..and now THIS shit....

The Yankees should cut him right NOW!!! No matter what he does from this moment on, he is in my eyes, a CHEATER. I'll still watch the Yankees, but when he comes up to bat, I'm changing the channel. I might not even buy the MLB package this season if he isn't at least suspended.

13. He can come to the Cubs anytime he wants.
I'd love to have him on my team. I don't care if people think he's "legitimate." He puts up good numbers, and that's all that matters. He may not be likable, and he may take steroids, but the numbers speak for themselves.

Besides, his skill and talent can't be solely attributed to steroid use.

Not surprising. Pay-Rod has always thought he's bigger than the game.

But when it was Barry... holy crap look out!

Talk about a double standard.

FTR, he broke the rule, he knew the rule, he pays the consequences. It has nothing to do with the rule he broke, just the fact that he broke it. That's all.

14. If overused. Anything in excess is bad for you.
There isn't a lot of hard science that suggests steroids are harmful.

That said, the anecdotal evidence would be enough to discourage me from taking them.

19. So what.
Steroids were legal in baseball when all of these guys tested positive. This is a problem with baseball, not the players. If I were a player during the steroid era, I would probably take steroids to give me a competitive advantage. Wouldn't you?

20. Steroids were added to the list of banned substances in 1991 by Commissioner Fay Vincent.
There was no testing done until 2003 though.
