Gov (Mark Sanford) says SC might take (stimulus) money despite misgivings
Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) -- South Carolina's Republican governor says his state may accept money from President Barack Obama's stimulus plan even though he is ideologically opposed to it.

Gov. Mark Sanford says being against the plan "doesn't preclude taking the money."

Sanford said Thursday on CBS' "The Early Show" that he took a stand against the president's economic plan because it's "a bad idea." But he says ultimately he represents the interests of the almost 5 million people of his state, and he will look over the plan and decide whether some parts would work for South Carolina.

Sanford also expressed skepticism about Obama's plan to reduce home foreclosures. The governor says: "Throw enough money at any problem and you're going to help some folks."

4. Might, my ass.
Shameful posturing is all it is. I wish I could bet Governor Sanford $100 right now that South Carolina will take stimulus money. Guess what, he wouldn't take the bet. No, wait. He's a Republican. He would take the bet then welch on it.

6. Ah shucks, Mark, be a man. Stand up for what you sincerely believe to be right.
If you SINCERELY believe taking the money is wrong, don't wimp out, show a little integrity.

Or are you just grandstanding a little?

Would the South Carolina media mind asking him this question just like I did?

10. Read "repug governors to refuse stimulus money" in headlines yesterday....
...and I knew that was a joke. Those blood sucking scum bags will line up to get their fair share for a number of reasons....ONE being they'll be run out on a rail from office if they refuse it.

We can all see the ass holes for their hypocrisy, but a few more elections and this country had better come up with a new party/name...cause repug is going to be the "kiss of death" for a politician.

11. Pugs are so breathtakingly predictable
They railed, ranted, whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiined, gnashed their teeth, threw their tantrums in front of whirring cameras, tut-tutted at the Democrats in a mysteriously new-found fiscal responsibility after 30 years of wild, drunken spending, trying to kick the turd they've left on the rug underneath it as if we wouldn't notice the stench that says REPUBLICAN MALFEASANCE all over it.

Betcherass they're at the head of the line with their hands out, butting everyone else out of the way. It's the repiglican way -- trough 'em up!!

12. If you want to see what Republican rule can do
Look at South Carolina. If you compare it to North Carolina, which did not go the way of electing solidly Republican state houses for two decades as SC did following the inauguration of the GOP's southern strategy, you can see which party is more responsible in the long run.

What a whiner. The only reason SC has any economy at all is because of billions pumped into the state on defense spending.

14. oh, now he has to "look over the plan"
to see if some parts might work for his state?

How could he have been against something he never read?

Sure, his hand is out now. He's all POUTRAGE and THEATRE while the cameras roll, and then his hands are stuck out like a greedy schoolboy as soon as they're turned off.
