Cheneys Join (McLean, VA) Neighborhood
Source: McLean Connections

McLean can add another name to its list of resident celebrities. With the end of the Bush administration, former Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, have moved into their house on Chain Bridge Road, just outside the Langley CIA headquarters.

The property was purchased in January of 2000, shortly after Cheney took office, for $1,350,000, according to the county tax map. The house was built last year and includes four bedrooms and nine bathrooms in about 7,300 square feet of living space. The property’s current assessed total is almost $4 million.

The Cheneys join a long roster of major political players living in McLean, including former Secretary of State Colin Powell, the Kennedy family and former Democratic National Committee chair Terry McAuliffe, currently a candidate for governor of Virginia.

26. I have my US residence not too far from where Bush is moving to!!
I hope he feels a pressing need to spend most of his time either clearing brush weed
at his ranch in Crawford, or else romping with Cheney and his buddies in the Persian
Gulf, and stay the hell out of Dallas.

11. Not curious.
Just waiting for an executive order declaring him banned from ever visiting the CIA.

Then again, the guy who destroyed one of their most important operations and blamed THEM for the "bad intelligence" he ginned up probably isn't exactly welcome.

If I were CIA, I'd be looking at ways of seriously fucking up his shit, and the proximity is just too damn tempting. Talk about dangling red meat at a starving beast.

15. It's not curious at all
The simple fact is that Langley, Virginia, is a very upscale neighborhood.
It's one of only a handful of places where one can have a beautiful multi-acre estate with gobs of charm and privacy, yet be only a few minutes from downtown DC. It is precisely why statesmen, presidential families, etc., choose to live there.
Proximity to a certain agency's headquarters is irrelevant.
Say what you will about Cheney or his McMansion... he's only doing what top-drawer DC interlopers have been doing for decades.

19. Don't they have upscale neighborhoods in Wyoming?
You can tell who's a DC pol and who's not by where they go AFTER they lose an election:

Carter: Plains, GA.
Liddy Dole: DC
Cheney: Langley, which is to say, DC.

33. Cheney Spent The Time Before The 200 Election in Texas
Cheney spent most of his time before the 2000 election living in Texas. He only re-established a Wyoming residence so he could constitutionally qualify to be sworn in as Vice President. Had Cheney remained a Texas resident, his installation as Vice President would have been unconstitutional.

28. Sticking up for ol' Cheney - eh?
After all he's done, there should be a retraining order keeping him from being anywhere near the CIA, FBI or another government institution - unless he's in cuffs.

BTW - Welcome to DU

For the last eight years he spent most of his time in an undisclosed location.

When children and puppies begin to disappear in Northern VA, at least we'll know where to look.

Flames were seen licking about the perimeter, and a mysterious pitchfork was found near the entrance.

Anyway, with any luck, this is what his real home will look like:
