FDA didn't inspect syringe plant despite reports
By MIKE BAKER, Associated Press Writer Mike Baker, Associated Press Writer

RALEIGH, N.C. – A North Carolina syringe factory linked to hundreds of sicknesses and five deaths operated for almost two years without an inspection despite a series of complaints that its needles were dirty or filled with colored particles.

Court documents in the North Carolina case show the U.S. Food and Drug Administration only inspected the AM2PAT Inc. plant in December 2007 after an outbreak of illness was reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Federal investigators contend that the company was so consumed with maximizing profits that it shipped syringes filled with saline and the blood-thinner heparin from a dingy facility without ensuring they were sterile. Authorities are now searching for the Chicago-based company's CEO Dushyant Patel, who was indicted last week. They believe he fled to his native India.

In 2007, before the outbreak of illness was traced back to the company's syringes, the FDA received more than a dozen reports of problems with AM2PAT's products. Some reported "orange specks" floating inside the unopened syringes, while others reported "yellow sediment" or "muddy brown" syringes filled with floating white specks.

3. I give heparin to patients
on a routine basis which comes in syringes. I work in a hospital that treats the poor without insurance or who have medicaid/medicare. We take care of anyone regardless of insurance or whether they are citizens. I really dislike humans. Life sucks.

8. Your post is a little confusing.
You dislike humans and you give them heparin whether they have insurance, or whether they're citizens? And life sucks. Come on! I'm a nursing student. You can't dislike humans and be a nurse!

Maybe, you dislike some humans who don't respect the lives of others? Because I'd really hate to have a nurse that hated humans giving me heparin. Maybe it was late when you wrote that...

11. No
I don't dislike humans. I was recently a victim to a horrible crime and my depression has overcome the better of me. I really love being a nurse - it's a worthwhile profession. Totally fucked up about the tainted heparin though.

4. The Mr had to take heparin injections
for a week when he had his last heart surgery. He kept getting sicker and sicker until the injections were finished. We finally put 2 and 2 together when shortly after he was finished, word of tainted heparin injections came out. Bastards.

5. ...the company was so consumed with maximizing profits...
If you ask Wall St., that is what the company should have as their major concern. Some things are too important to be left to the profit motive.

6. Absolutely! If profite overrides people's safety then
there should be more of a penalty than just a slight chance of maybe getting financial slap on the wrist.

Executives should be arrested and put in jail.

9. Hmmmm
I found one $300 political contribution for Mr. Patel in the 2008 election cycle. Guess who it was to:

A. Move On
B. Indians (Not the Woo Woo Kind) for Barack
C. The Republican National Committee

No fair peeking!

10. Don't forget the now stale Peanut Butter recall.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.

When people finally get the word on the subtle, hidden dangers of the Genetically Modified Ingrediants lacing our food supply, they with go absolutely ballistic.

It's hard to trust the food supply now, since everything touched by Agribusiness has turned to shit in the name of profits.

Right now, the high commodity priced foods are now being liquidated, so watch closely to what you are eating, since the Food manufacturing Robots can't tell the difference between Moldy corn or regular corn.

Beware of egg's from chickens fed with the lowest cost GMO feedstock they could ship in from China.

Add to that the poor diabetics get to pay 100% more for lower quality syringes. These bastards need to be held accountable.

So where do these investigators hide when the Republicans are in office?
