George W. Bush's presidential 'First Dog' dies
Feel free to post your ahem, condolences here.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3510669.stm

US President George W Bush is mourning the death of one of his dogs, Spot - often seen with the First Family. The 14-year-old English springer spaniel was put to sleep after having suffered a series of strokes.

The dog was one of only two witnesses - both canine - to the president's fainting spell after he choked on a pretzel in January 2002.

Spot had a full presidential pedigree - born at the White House in March 1989, when Mr Bush's father was in office.

"The president and Mrs Bush and the entire Bush family are deeply saddened by the passing of Spot," the White House said in a statement.

1. Spot knew too much, he had to be eliminated.
They just couldn't find a way to get him on a small plane without another member of the family.

2. Dog Dynasty?
Spot was an offspring of shrub sr.'s dog Millie. I'm reading Kevin Phillips book "American Dynasty". I see another dynasty here. Just an atferthought. How many sympathy votes does a dog get?

5. RIP Spot
I have dogs myself - the older one will be 14 next month; the younger just won 3 "Best of Breeds" at her first show - so I can never be anything but sad to hear about the passing of a canine family member. Do I feel a fleeting touch of sympathy for the Bushes? Not exactly. But I do hope the experience is a wake-up call to Dubya: "Hey, this is what grief feels like. Much of the rest of the world has to live with it every single day. In part because of things you've done." Wasn't the poor dog's fault, as to where she was born, and I hope she had a good life and a peaceful death.

8. I am saddened
to hear of Spot's death, but I doubt that Bush could recognize "a wake-up call" if it slapped him in the face, or that he is capable of feeling the emotion called "grief".

6. Poor Thing
She had no choice but to be associated with the Crime Family.

We can't hold it against her. She was a prisoner.

It is heart wrenching to lose a member of your family. I'm sorry for them.

13. My thoughts exactly
Hey Toots -- Glad to know I'm not the only Barney fan on DU. No matter what I may think of the Bush Family (largely unprintable), I absolutely adore Barney. I've owned four Scotties myself over the last decade, and it's a kick to see a terrier in the White House again. I'm sure he and Fala's ghost have the occasional romp together.

25. Oh well at least the dog didn't have to face the choice of either JUMPING
from the NORTH WTC TOWER (or was that the SOUTH TOWER?????????) or being BURNED ALIVE, like a certain group of 3,000 people on Sept 11 2001

Bush es un poyo merda = Bush is a chicken crap.

Another story to "sweeten and humanize" Bush. Watch for lots of these from now through Nov. They'll be working hard to get his likable "regular guy" image back.
