Controversial Terror Research Lives On

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/AP-Terror-Privacy.html

<snip...>

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The government is still financing research to create powerful tools that could mine millions of public and private records for information about terrorists despite an uproar last year over fears it might ensnare innocent Americans.

Congress eliminated a Pentagon office developing the terrorist tracking technology because of the outcry over privacy implications. But some of those projects from retired Adm. John Poindexter's Total Information Awareness effort were transferred to U.S. intelligence offices, congressional, federal and research officials told The Associated Press.

1. Just like the Department of Lying
Whatever that was called. They just moved that job into every part of the administration.

2. Well beyond research
TIA is alive and well by a host of other names. Most obvious is The Matrix--data sharing by many police across multiple east states. Some sort of tie in with FBI there. But the five million person terror watch list (that number is absurd, but that's the number) tied into whatever Nasa was just cooking up with NW airlines (and Delta?) is obviously part of it. Little bits and pieces keep rising to the surface, but clearly those who want a massive single fed database are well along the way to having one.

Poindexter got shoved back under the carpet--that is all. (Not that that's bad--took a massive grassroots effort for that to happen). Even heard sometime recently that the "terror stock market" plan was still kicking.

A good article, in depth for AP.

5. Just like EVERYTHING the Imperial have been told "no" on
That's what Totalitarianism is, and the Imperial Subjects of Amerika are getting their first taste of it.

I didn't need this article to tell me what I KNOW about Totalitarians, and that is they will not be denied and the only operative question for them is "What are YOU gfoing to do to stop me/us?"

From "Faith-Based Funding" to Total Information Awareness, everything they have been told "no" on they have resurrected in another place using Imperial Fiat.

Which is what Totalitarians always do, whether they be Commies on the Left or Busheviks and Nazis on the Right.
This is almost a yawner. Like reading that Stalin's Soviet Union had Gulags, even though they weren't mentioned in official publications.

The police state. The idea that there is a massive public outcry, including even the 'pugs, and they just shift it all around. The idea that every day we are getting a bit more screwed.

All of that and more.

Thing is, these guys either think they will not lose, or just don't care. Get their programs funded now--time to make the fascism (donut smiley goes here).

There is heavy duty news going on today and yesterday and tomorrow. It is about these assholes pursuing their agenda and fuck em if they can't take a joke, right?

Oh, sure, Halliburton/KBR may one day slug through the mud, just like Enron--but in the meantime, people are making some big money. Some big insulating money--think they care? That's what lawyers are for.

Look at Haiti, Venezuela, Cuba, Columbia. Serious shit, all directed from here, is going on right now. It has nothing to do with tomorrow and everything to do with what can we get away with now.

Little hidden expansions of the patriot act? Little attacks on the environment? Little bits of privacy eroded? Roe v. Wade chipped away at? Did something bad happen today to America? Were there body bags? Did the United States kill people with your tax dollars? Bet your ass it did. Every single day.

They have a play book.

Every day.

Yeah, you know it. Fine. But how about who gives a rat's ass about Nader, Arhnold, TV executions, tits on the superbowl, dead presidential dogs, Matt Drudge, or whatever other drivel they want us to talk about to occupy our time? Take that blue pill and a nifty bunny will appear, for damn'd sure. Ugh.

We need to ride these guy's asses until November. Don't get caught up in the stupid shit--there's plenty of it. Who cares what people will be talking about around the watercooler in the morning--that is someone else's agenda. Stay on message, stay on target, stay on the important stuff, like what our country used to be about.

Or so goes my rant. Preaching to the choir, yes.

This clearly needs kicking, which was the concept I started with.

I feel better already.

8. Thanks--I'm born again pissed
Overwhelming the amount of crap that we get dealt each day.

Thank you, sir, may I please have another?

And my rant is very much inspired by us being caught up in getting a nominee. I think they are pulling extra BS right now on account of that--we're busy. We should be bustin' more ass.
