U.S., Pakistan Deny They're Closing in on Osama
(Reuters) - Osama bin Laden's whereabouts remain a mystery to U.S. and Pakistani forces as they crank up efforts to flush out al Qaeda and Taliban rebels hiding near Afghanistan's eastern frontier, officials said on Monday. U.S. military officials in Kabul have boldly predicted his capture in 2004, and Britain's Sunday Express weekly reported that the world's most wanted man was "boxed in" by U.S. and British special forces in the rugged Pakistani mountains along the Afghan border.

1. I thought it was a little TOO early for them to unveil Osama.

They need to wait awhile and use strategery to get the maximum bounce out of "capturing" bin Laden.

It's all in the polls, if they let them drop too low, even their "ace in the hole" won't get them back up again. Watch out if they play the Osama card and poll numbers start falling again before the election - we could see another serious threat of a terrorist attack

I saw an interesting comment made by Salman Rushdie a few months ago. He said that the Bushies know exactly where Osama is holed up, ther're just waiting to pull him out at an opportune time: read November 2004! Scumbags. They support the Pakistani dictator who helped create the terrorists! Wierd.

This "October suprise" stuff is kind of outthere. If they knew where he was, since he remains a "threat" it would be impossible to keep it a secret for political purposes. Somebody that knew would tell.
The simple and probably correct answer is that they honestly have no idea where he is.

It was the same thing as the theories about planting WMD, although they probably wanted to, in the end, somebody would tell. They know that.
