Some DU love for Howard Stern? |
|
I know, I know, those who don't like Stern at all will be unmoved, but as someone who enjoys SOME of the Stern show, and who has been dismayed at his blind loyalty of Bush since 9/11, well, he's not towing the line anymore. I just heard him denounce W as a "Stupid chimp. He's gotta go." A chorus of Robin, etc agreed (big shock there), and then he called Bush "A dick. Make him a one-termer like his dad." He railed against the distraction techniques in play--gay marriage, Tittygate, etc, "while the CIA knew about the Al Queda plan and did nothing." This just two days after he praised Franken's book for about ten minutes, to the extent of joking "Al calls me 'McCarthy' at the beginning of the book, I should be mad, but the rest of the book is so smart, he's probably right about me." To humorous extent, he excused himself saying "Maybe he means Jenny?"
I hate a lot of what they do on the show too, but this is significant, I think, in terms of the public shift against W and the number of "followers" Stern has. Every little bit helps.

I couldn't believe his tirade against the "little monkey" today. He read Franken's book. Franken is to appear on the show Stern said. They had a 20 minute debate in which Stern and Robin excoriated the Shrub administration, that was defended by two of Stern's moron underlings. He essentially parroted Franken's book about the "Clinton military," etc, he called Chimp a liar regarding his AWOL status, and he strongly supported Kerry's protest of the Viet Nam war! Props to him this time around!

Sorry, he's a misogynistic asshole. Although I'm happy he's reaching a new demographic (I'm not even sure what type of person would listen to him regularly.) but I will not be showing him any "love."

3. Stern is a media whore. |
|
I go beyond the idea ëxpressed on "Media Whores Online" - which, by the way, seems to be dying because the guy who runs it is not updating it.
Stern is only voicing anger at Bush because his own territory - his radio show - is now being threatened with censorship. By "Colin Powell's son," as he keeps calling the FCC commissioner, he being too lazy to learn or use his real name.
You never heard a bad word about Bush from Stern when he was able to do his silly, not-even-remotely-sexy stunts like throwing baloney slices at a girl's tush. Now that he's threatened, he's turning.
So this isn't really a cause for celebration. Stern believes in only one thing, Stern. He IS as egotistical as he appears to be, even if he occasionally mocks his own ego. Cross him in even a small matter and he'll hate you. Stern's idea of politics is getting Gary DellÁbate to ask the Democratic nominee whether he ever farted in Bill Clinton's face.
