Deputy Police Chief Assassinated in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Gunmen assassinated the deputy police chief in the northern city of Mosul on Wednesday, and militants warned of further attacks on Iraqi security forces and Kurdish militiamen, accusing them of protecting "infidel" Americans.

In Baghdad, attackers fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a major Shiite Muslim shrine overnight, officials at the shrine said. The RPG punched a hole in an outer wall of the Kazimiyah shrine in a northern neighborhood of the capital, but caused no injuries.

The attack on the shrine came on the fourth day of the Islamic month of Muharram, a sacred period when thousands of Iraqi Shiites and Iranian pilgrims have converged on Kazimiyah, where two Shiite saints are buried, and other Shiite shrines in cities of southern Iraq (news - web sites).

My son too was in Iraq. He was in theater from Jan. 2003 until he was sent home in June for discharge. He is now in college and enjoying his new life. Your son will come home safe as well. I think about those kids everyday. When my son was there I tried to keep busy with sending him the things he needed (thank you Rumsfeld for not giving the troops what they required) and tried not to dwell on the futility of the cause he was there for. I will keep you son in my thoughts.

and thanks..but I am so furious in general I cant let a minute go by without using the phone or the net to keep plugging away at getting this out to the public and demanding it be over...and putting a face on the kids, which the media wont do unless people scream about it..

Im glad your loved one is home. hugs to him from me.
I am not in denial tho..and the closer we get to June 30th the more dangerous it becomes. So I am working against the clock.
