16. It doesn't mean anything. He still controls Bush and Congress.
Just allows him and his co-harts to be less visible.

21. you're so right!
Just resigning from the advisory board is a ploy, I agree. Perle will remain as powerful as all the PNAC folk, on or off the payroll. What amazes me still is that the media refused to air this story at all. The death of investigative journalism is the saddest and most dangerous aspect of all this. The felons and thugs in this adminstration are huge in number. Even Chalabi, - whom they set up in Iraq has been given a free pass by the media, despite his indictment in absentia by Jordan for stealing millions there. Of course, we're still paying him. That is, your and my tax dollars are paying him. Maybe crime pays.....

3. Warning bells
I don't like this evil bastard slipping off the public radar screens. While in semi-public service, he has to be somewhat careful about what he does and how he does it.

Once cut free of formal association with the administration, he's capable of a hell of lot more machinations. His new book seems to lay out a pretty clear agenda...quitting the DPB gives him the freedom to get right to work on subverting the National Gov't.

Something about this worries me.

BTW, he's in NYC today, ostensibly pumping his latest manifesto of evil (be sure to read description of book, below re: reshaping gov't):

ELEANA BENADOR AND BENADOR ASSOCIATES ARE HONORED TO FEATURE

RICHARD PERLE

FORMER ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF DEFENSE AND MEMBER OF THE DEFENSE
POLICY BOARD

"THE AXIS OF EVIL: TWO YEARS LATER"

Thursday, February 26th, 2004

12:30 PM - 2:00 PM

At the Law Offices of
Milberg Weiss Bershad Hynes & Lerach LLP

The Vista Conference Room
1 Penn Plaza - Between 7th and 8th Avenues - 48th Floor

_________________________________________

Two years after President Bush talked about the "axis of evil" for
the first
time in his State of the Union Address, Richard Perle, who has been
recognized as one of the key strategists of his generation, will
offer an
assessment of the situation.

Richard Perle is the co-author, with David Frum, of the recently
published
book, An End to Evil: How to Win the War on Terror (New York: Random
House,
2003).

We are also in the third year of the War on Terror, war imposed on
the
United States with the 9/11 attacks.

In their book, Perle and Frum take stock of the situation and chart
the way
ahead, confident that the United States and its allies shall win a
war they
are waging on behalf of mankind as a whole.

As one reviewer says, the Frum-Perle book presents "... a radical,
even
revolutionary, vision of the contemporary world and the role that the
United

States can and must play in reshaping it. The authors propose changes
that,
if implemented, would radically alter the way the US itself is
governed. The
White House, the State Department, the CIA, the Pentagon, the FBI and
virtually every other part of the US government would change beyond
recognition."

Mr. Perle will be signing the book which will be available for
purchase.

24. I couldn't agree with you more...
I'm trying to remember how the "resignation" dodge works..recall that if you are a prominent member of the government and you "resign" then you are far less susceptible to legal probes. Someone more knowledgable on this help me out here ..I recall that "resignations" are a fairly standard ploy to shut off information to the public.

9. It does make one ask
Edited on Thu Feb-26-04 11:41 AM by Tims
What the hell is he going to be up to now?

But then again he may simply be trying to distance himself from what he sees as a meltdown over the Iraq war and the WMD claims. What does he know is coming down that we don't?

Also, maybe he sees no way Bush can avoid a loss in November and is getting out now before all the good positions in the private sector are taken by ex-Bushies.

...Dick is not on the ticket as VP. Someone from the existing cabinet or admin is the new VP on the ticket. That would leave another cabinet position or admin position open.

Perle for NSA?

14. Perle challened CIA a few days ago........
Another hushed up story a few days ago: Perle said "heads should roll at the CIA" for the WND foul-up, and he said Tenet should take the blame. Of course, only the alternative news sites had that story, and a few in the print media.

My guess: someone at the CIA threatened to blow the whistle if Perle stayed on. This guy does NOT give up power for nothing. He was forced out of the presidency on the advisory panel when there were news stories of his corrupt past....

Not to worry, PNAC lives on....

20. Perle is deep in the Hollinger scandal -
judge to deliver decision tomorrow. Stay tuned, folks, that web Perle's weaved is getting mighty cumbersome!

February 21, 2004 -- WILMINGTON, Del. - A defiant Conrad Black lashed out from the witness stand yesterday, saying he has been "horribly defamed" by allegations that he looted Hollinger International.
"I have been characterized and stigmatized as an embezzler," he said, his voice trembling with emotion.

Yet Black admitted to filing false documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission and acknowledged that checks related to allegedly improper non-compete payments had been backdated - two allegations at the heart of the financial scandal at Hollinger International.

Black's testimony came at the end of a three-day trial in Chancery Court that could determine the future of Hollinger International, the newspaper empire he controls. The judge is expected to release his verdict by Feb. 27.
-snip-

Black also admitted he had conversations with directors Henry Kissinger and Richard Perle in which he threatened to fire the board if it adopted a so-called "poison pill" provision to thwart a deal with the Barclays.

23. My reaction to that guy is one of a churning stomach and a
feeling of pure evil. He is the Pentagon's Director of the Pentagon's version of Intelligence If they have to hide him for awhile, he should keep his mouth shut, but if he doesn't it's good for us, because he's got a big mouth...all kinds of insights spill forth.

Maybe Sharon can come over and get him out of trouble since RP is a citizen of Israel.
