Bush trip to Charlotte, NC today is cancelled. |
|
Our mayor just announced it on our local #14 television station.
We have 5 inches of snow since this a.m. Another 3 inches could happen by tonight.

and they were planning to get 2000 dollars from 800 people here. Wouldn't this be a good time for Edwards stump speech about his backyard?????

WOW! I'm just south of Asheville and we've only gotten around 2" so far. Sometimes you people in the Peidmont get hammered more than we do.

snow record today.
It's finally stopped the 'white out' snow here.

I can't imagine any snow shower beating that. People are still talking about it around here. It's like a reference point in everyone's life.

May get more this evening, but it's a wet snow, so hopefully it'll melt fast. I've got places to go, people to see, things to do.

cancelling though that no one will mention here, because only our mayor would mention it...
He said this would give Bush "several hours of free time".
Like he needs free time.

|
We're supposed to get a lot of snow here too, but so far we only have a couple of inches.
Of course everything has been cancelled because the news stations have been whipping up the fever about how much we'll get.

14. Maybe he read Don Hudson's article in today's Observer |
|
This is big. Tom Cox, of all people. Tom Cox, the Republican chair of the county commission, who just assumed the position of chair after the Democrats lost the majority last time. Tom Cox, who just announced that he is not running again after having held local offices for years. Tom Cox will not be attending any Bush fundraisers because he doesn't believe Bush's BS!!

Whenever Ronald Reagan came on the television, Tom Cox got up from his chair and stood at attention.
"To show the man respect," said Cox, the Republican chair of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners.
When Cox watched the State of the Union address last month, he kept his seat. That was the night he realized he didn't trust George Bush, the man he voted for three years ago.
"What I said was, `I don't believe this BS,' " Cox said. "It is just talk. ... He has become more like the guy before him.
"I can't believe the guy."

My deck railing has about 3" or thereabouts. If having to deal with snow means Bush was kept out of NC, then it's worth it!

It’s snowing like a winter wonderland out there today. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much snow in Charlotte. It has to be more than a foot. Nobody went to work today. I wandered around outside with our dog, who loves snow. Some poor souls were trying to get out of the neighborhood, but their car could not get up the hill to get out of here. There’s only one way out (if you know CLT, I don't have to tell you it's a cul de sac), so it appears we are stuck for the time being. It must be more than a foot.
