Schwarzenegger campaign wants her suit dismissed; her attorney calls their statements 'pathetic.'
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaign aides say they believed that a woman suing him for defamation really was a prostitute and drug addict when they suggested to reporters that she had a history of felony convictions, court documents in the case show.
"Because several people had mentioned her drug use and one had suggested possible participation in prostitution, I believed very strongly that the criminal records ... were of the same Rhonda Miller," campaign spokeswoman Sean Walsh said in a deposition filed last week in Los Angeles Superior Court. The deposition was one of several filed with a motion requesting dismissal of the case.
Walsh was wrong about Miller, who was one of more than a dozen women who came forward in the waning days of California's gubernatorial recall election to allege they had been groped or otherwise sexually harassed by Schwarzenegger in unrelated incidents spanning three decades.
Miller's attorney, Gloria Allred, on Wednesday called the campaign's argument "pathetic."
Miller told reporters in a news conference a day before California's Oct. 7 recall election that the actor-turned-candidate had lifted her shirt and photographed her bare breasts without her consent in January 1991 during the filming of "Terminator 2." She said he also groped her breasts during the 1994 filming of "True Lies."
