US military choppers over Port Au Prince now (10:25 am est) |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 10:30 AM by Mika
Just saw live video on Miami local TV
Aslo, heard a local Miami reporter, in Haiti, say that Aristide was LIVE on TV and radio this morning saying that he will not leave on his own accord.
US denying involvement.

1. Yahoo reporting US troops are on the way to Haiti |
|
"President (Jean-Bertrand) Aristide made a decision for the good of the Haitian people," Foley said. "International military forces including U.S. forces will be rapidly arriving in Haiti to begin to restore a sense of security."

2. Let's clear up the confusion. |
|
Aristide is in the Dominican Republic, Antigua, on his way to Morocco, who says he isn't welcome, Panama, and South Africa.
He has not, however, left Haiti.
The acting President is Mr. Neptune and Alexandre Boniface, whose whereabouts are unknown.
No information is available about the smoke rising from Port au Prince.
US troops are in Haiti, where they have been for several days while waiting on standby a few hundred miles away. They are en route to Haiti now, where they will not go unless they are invited.

3. Thanks for clearing that up for us... |
|
I woke up this morning and had no idea what was really going on. :)
Seriously, I'm extremely troubled. I just can't believe they have done this, right out in the open, broad daylight.

this is a terrible barometer of our Pravda media
at least rangel and kerry and hopefully others (i haven't checked for sharpton dk or edwards) will make this clear:
BushCo overthrew Haiti. In broad fucking daylight.
I hate our press today like I did a year ago...the worthless miserable whores.

in the dominican republic and in haiti?
"Aristide is in the Dominican Republic"
"He has not, however, left Haiti."
The island is called Hispanola, not Haiti...

Left foot in Haiti, right foot in DR.
ON EDIT: I believe the poster was making fun of the media's ten million claims on Aristide's whereabouts and situation, as they've claimed he's both resigned and not resigned, and that he's both left the country, and not left the country.

5. He's live on TV saying he won't leave? |
|
But I thought he resigned yesterday and was on his way to Panamamoroccosouthafricataiwandominicanrepublic.... :eyes: This sounds almost exactly like the coup attempt on Chavez (except for the US military involvement)..... doesn't the CIA have any more pages in their playbook? I mean man, it wouldn't seem so obvious if they did something different...

8. 30 minutes later the TV station was bombed |
|
As of 10:30am Ira Kurzban (Aristide's US lawyer) said that Aristide was still in Haiti and had not resigned.
Burning tires in front of the prez palace are the work of defenders of Aristide, which is a mix of Haitian police and armed civillians.

9. Is it possible he was killed in the bombing? |
|
And what sort of bomb... do you know? Something brought in with a backpack, or something launched from elsewhere?

"Bombed" was the term used by local TV reporter Mike Kirsch. He said he saw "rebels" with RPGs. The station was burned out w/black smoke rising on the video.

Where did they get those? Kmart?
They would probably be US-manufactured RPGs, to match the M-16s I saw them carrying this morning, right?

could this be another fake resignation, like with Chavez?
The US is making their imperialist agenda clear with these helicopters.
