Dan Froomkin hired by The Huffington Post

In yet another sign of how online media outlets are strengthening as their older establishment predecessors are struggling to survive, The Huffington Post has hired Dan Froomkin to be its Washington Bureau Chief and regular columnist/blogger. Froomkin will oversee a staff of four reporters and an Assistant Editor, guide The Huffington Post's Washington reporting, and write at least two posts per week to be featured on its main page and Politics page. I learned last night of the hiring and spoke to both Arianna Huffington and Froomkin this morning.

1. Great news for both of them. The only real loser is W. Post.
I figured he would land at either HuffPost or TPM, so this comes as no surprise.

4. Fortunately, the Post doesn't deign to notice mere blogs
So they'll never know what they're missing.

9. When a Democrat won the Presidency, Ariana indicated Huffpo was going to be more critical of Dems.
MSNBC does the opposite. When Dummya was riding high in the polls, they had Imus, Scarborough, Matthews (talking about how he voted for Bush twice, not how Obama makes his leg tingle), Carlson (Tucker), Miller (Dennis the Bitter and Insane). As Dummya started to slip, they lost Miller and added Olberman and everyone started to moderate the Bush worship. Then they got more and more critical of Bush.

12. Great news
A real reporter gets a job with a real news outlet. I wonder why it's ticking off people? LOL.
