(Iraq) First post-pullout U.S. death (soldier found unconscious in a camp)

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: A U.S. soldier died, the first since the withdrawal of U.S. forces from inside Iraqi cities on June 30, according to the U.S. army in Iraq on Thursday.

“A Multi-National Force-Baghdad soldier died on Wednesday (July 8) after he was found unconscious in a camp,” read a U.S. army statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

The death brings to 4,322 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.

weird. was it a result of an already sustained injury? nothing more at the link, and can't find anything else on it.

MND-B Soldier death

Multi-National Division – Baghdad

BAGHDAD – A Multi-National Division–Baghdad Soldier died July 8 after being found unresponsive at a Coalition forces facility. The Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The names of deceased service members are announced through the U.S. Department of Defense Official Web site at http://www.defenselink.mil/ . The announcements are made on the Web site no earlier than 24 hours after notification of the service member’s primary next of kin.

MND-B will not release any additional details prior to notification of next of kin and official release by the DoD.

The incident and cause of death are currently under investigation.
