Dismal Turnout at Sanford "Resign or Impeach" Rally
Source: WLTX

Columbia (WLTX) - Some critics of Governor Sanford took to the State House grounds Thursday to call for the governor to resign or be impeached. But despite a strong show of support by a Facebook.com group that sponsored the rally, the turnout left many folks less than impressed.

"They want to lynch the Governor and rake him over the coals,"says Sanford supporter John Perna.

...

With just about as many protestors as spectators, the dismal turnout left even Sanford critics scratching their heads.

"I don't understand the turnout,"says Lori Wind.

She made the trip from Charleston after getting invited through a Facebook.com group. About 6,000 people signed up on a webpage calling for Sanford to step down.

2. Minimizing the word "lynch" was one of the more stomach-turning legacies of the Thomas

confirmation hearings.

Lynching is NOT a Senator asking an African American a race neutral question on the latter's way to fill the vacancy on the bench of the Supreme Court of the United States of America left by the great Thurgood Marshall.

Lynching is NOT a call for a white SC Governor who is sounding and acting quite daft to resign or be impeached.

Lynching is a racist abduction and hanging, often even more brutal than hanging, by a gang of thugs, like the KKK.

Misappropriating that word and diluting it until it is meanaingless is just another disgusting tactic of shameless Rethugs. They need to be called on it every single time.

4. They should have been more organized for the protest.
You can't just limit yourself to facebook in order to gather people up for a protest. It would be best also to actually meet people at college campuses, have a booth at public events, make youtube videos, pass out fliers, have small rallies, post on bulletin boards, make a website and find groups who are sympathetic to the cause.
