Serial Gay Basher In Custody In NYC
Source: On Top Magazine

The New York City Police Department has arrested a serial gay basher believed to be involved in at least three attacks on gay men in the city, NY1 reported.

Police allege Driton Nicaj, 19, along with as many as five other men, violently attacked and robbed two gay men on the city's Upper East Side. Nicaj, the police say, has also admitted to being at the scene when a third man was assaulted. Police continue to search for accomplices.

Nicaj and the other men began beating and robbing gay men in May, police say.

The first attack took place on May 31 when a group of at least four men surrounded two 19-year-old gay men sitting in Carl Schurz Park at 2AM. The gang used anti-gay slurs as they “forcibly” robbed the men.

3. Why hasn't that man been deported?
Police said Nicaj, an Albanian immigrant with prior arrests in Pennsylvania for drugs and drunken driving, has confessed to beating and robbing Doane, and is expected to be arraigned Friday evening.
He has been charged with robbery and aggravated harassment, and both charges have been enhanced with hate crimes.

Why hasn't he been deported?

no. it says immigrant. for all we know he may be a citizen. we can deport non-citizens for such offenses. i don't see where the article mentions his citizenship

5. Unfortunately, immigrants often bring their virulent anti-gay values with them
As a gay man, I'm always disturbed to find that yes, when people immigrate from countries where homophobia and violence against gays are a cultural norm, they enter American culture with these prejudices intact, and when the stresses of immigration begin to mount, act out their violence against gay Americans.

16. Clever, but no cigar.
We're currently fighting to have the last vestiges of anti-gay removed from our society and dealing with people who themselves claim to harbor no hatred for gay people or to deny gay people equal rights, except for marriage and the military of course. There is a huge difference between that and places that are hardly out of the cave on the issue.

9. If you'll hum a few bars, I'll sing it for you.
It turns out that the two people I was thinking about weren't citizens, thought both would have fallen into the "compelling story" category since they were brought here as children by their parents.

Sylvestro Carolla and Lucky Luciano.

As for anyone else, we have enough domestic jackasses, immigrants should leave it at the border, illegal or legal.

14. You don't see the sequitur?
Let me make it easy for you: immigrant suspected of assaulting gays; immigrant comes from a culture less tolerant of gays than the U.S. ===> rational people inquire why he shouldn't be packed up with his bigoted attitudes and sent home.
