(Homeland Security) Admin. to review color-coded (threat) system
Source: MSNBC

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano today will call for a review of the color-coded threat level system, which was created in the months after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The system was intended to standardize warnings of increased terror threat. Though it got a fairly good workout at first, its use has tapered off in the past few years. One reason is that the overall level of awareness -- both among the public, government, and law enforcement -- is greater now than it was before the attacks.

The review is intended to address whether the system is still needed. And, if so, whether further refinements are in order.

10. It is totally idiotic
I remember hearing an Israeli counter terrorism expert being asked why Israel hadn't adopted a similar system and he replied: "Why would you want to tell terrorists - who are the only ones paying the slightest attention to the warning system - that you're being especially vigilant or lax in looking for them on any given day?"

6. While they're at it......
they should review the name "Homeland Security".
Every time I hear it, I think of Nazi Germany.

7. They probably wanted to call it "State Security"
Rather than renaming it, the entire concept needs to be taken out to the dumpster.

11. 60 Day Review? What a waste of Tax Dollars
Janet Napolitano should've given this a 60 second review and abolished it right then. It always was a useless joke!

12. LOL

This thing has been made fun of for sooooo long.

It's about time it went.

Now I wonder if they'll rename the department of homeland security?!

Why in the hell they used the word homeland is beyond me, in that Hitler used it ALL THE TIME to spin up his minions.

Slowly we're reversing the insanity of the Bush years!!!!
