CBC NewsOusted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya raised the possibility Tuesday of a people's revolt over his removal from office, saying Hondurans "have the right to insurrection" against the interim government that forced him out of the country.
During a joint news conference with Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom in Guatemala City, Zelaya said Honduran citizens also have the right to demonstrate and to stage strikes against the military-backed government of Roberto Micheletti.
Micheletti, a member of the ousted leader's Liberal party in the country's congress who was appointed president after the coup, has threatened to jail Zelaya if he tries to return.
Zelaya said, "Nobody owes allegiance to a usurper government."
