3. "i thought foreign workers were entitled to take whatever they wanted"? |
|
Is you substituted the words "women and minority" for "foreign", you could become a repub senator or Fox talking head. Careful when you're stereotyping large groups of people.

"Careful when you're stereotyping large groups of people." you mean like this? Indian CEO says American tech grads are 'unemployable' http://business.rediff.com/report/2009/jun/23/indian-ceo-says-american-tech-grads-are-unemployable.htm

M_T, Didn't you get the memo? ... racism and stereotypes are allowable when it goes against Americans!
And it's completely expected and encouraged when there is no other argument left to meet the needs of your agenda.
BTW... :toast:

8. Nope, racism and stereotypes are never acceptable even when the "other guy" |
|
(whether the "other guy" is an Indian CEO, Hitler, Milosevic, or a Rwandan Hutu leader) does it first. Using the "lowest common denominator" of world behavior as a guide for how we should act is not how I see things.

I've never seen you denounce these actions when directed at American citizens. Yet, you have no problem countering groups speaking out against the H-1B & L1 visa programs, offshoring and free-trade, and you are quick to cry protectionism and xenophobia and toss your race-card out on the table. The only conclusion that can be reached is that your agenda coincides with the agenda that does not include the views of the "lazy American worker".

10. In post 7, you'll notice that I called the Indian CEO an idiot and compared him |
|
to Hitler, Milosevic and others. If that is not enough of a denouncement for you, so be it.
I accused no one of protectionism, xenophobia or racism, just that another poster was close to sounding like a repub senator or FOX talking head by the stereotyping he/she was engaged in. Do you not agree that repubs politicians and FOX folks engage in stereotyping much more than progressive do?
Accusing others of protectionism, xenophobia or racism is a substitute for discussing trade and immigration issues. Likewise accusing others of being a "globalist" (which used to be a good, progressive thing when I was much younger - one of the reasons I joined the Peace Corps way back when) or not caring about the American worker. I figure that name calling (though I'll admit that comparing a poster to a repub senator or FOX talking head is pretty mean :) ) and hot-button labels (xenophobe, globalist) don't do much to foster discussion around here.

7. Yeah, exactly like that. If an Indian CEO or a repub senator or a Fox talking head |
|
stereotypes large groups of people, does that make stereotyping OK? The fact that there is an idiot Indian CEO (not to mention repub senators and Fox talking heads) out there stereotyping people based on their nationality doesn't make that any more acceptable than stereotyping based on gender, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

11. This thread, so far, is another example of information warfare conducted at DU and the Internet imo. |
