The authorities said the suspects are for the most part day laborers who know one another through an auto detailing shop and power washing business. In addition, they said the suspects had apparently spent 30 days training for the heist, which was executed as planned with one problem: someone failed to disable the surveillance system, which the couple had installed to monitor their children.
Seven of those arrested — all men, including a 16-year-old — were charged with murder. The eighth person, Pamela Wiggins, 47, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with accessory to murder. The police say she is a longtime friend of one of the seven men, Leonard Gonzalez Jr., who was said to have played a “pivotal” role in the murders.
The investigators said they were still looking for at least one or two more people of interest, including an eighth man who may have had the job of disabling the surveillance system but backed out at the last minute.
