Illinois Deputy Accused Of Using Stun Gun On 3 Kids
Source: Associated Press

(07-20) 08:07 PDT EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) --

A federal civil rights lawsuit alleges a southern Illinois sheriff's deputy used a stun gun on three children at an emergency shelter while a fellow deputy mistreated a fourth child.

The children's guardian is suing the Jefferson County deputies, the county and Sheriff Roger Mulch.

According to the lawsuit filed July 1, the deputies responded to the shelter near Mount Vernon last summer to help control two 12-year-olds and an 11-year-old. But the three children who were allegedly shocked with the stun gun and another child who was forced into a closet after trying to intervene weren't the youths who prompted the call.

2. Always with the damn stun guns
You could take them away but chances are the cops would just find something else to beat the kids with.

5. Yup can't blame the stun guns
Like you said, they would just use something else on them and to be honest I would prefer the stun gun over their steel baton or something else. I say this from experience :) Also the stun gun hurts much less than the taser, I have tested them both. So it could have been worse ;)

3. Again...The investigation says the Deputies did nothing wrong!
Eventually they will be tazzing infants...That is the only age group I have yet to hear has been tazzed for the pure enjoyment of cops. 92 year old man, a 72 yr old woman, both cases there were several cops on scene...I guess they were worried about being overpowered by these violent elderly folks much like these deputies were worried about being overpowered by 12yr old kids.

I thought these tazzers were to be used in cases where cops would be forced to shoot someone, like "suicide by cop scenarios" or someone armed with a knife, not just because the cop wants to play with a toy?

Cops simply do no wrong! :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

i wonder if the children were minorities... i wouldn't be surprised ... and, what happened to the children who were really causing trouble??? bad cops give a bad name to good cops... they should be fired from the force...
